“‘If there are so many of you, and if the hill country of Ephraim is not large enough for you, clear out land for yourselves in the forest where the Perizzites and the Rephaites live.’ The descendants of Joseph responded, ‘It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.’” (Josh 17:15-16)
In chapters 16 and 17, the descendants of Joseph, Ephraim and Mannasseh inherit their lands. The half-tribe of Mannasseh that didn’t get land on the east side of the Jordan, like the other half, now claimed land on the west side. Also, the daughters of Zelophahad asked for their portion of land, promised by Moses, since he had no sons, only daughters. So all of the land of Ephraim and Mannasseh were now given to them. However, the descendants of Joseph had one problem- their land in the hill country of Ephraim wasn’t large enough to fit them all! So they spoke to Joshua about it, and he gave them more land- as long as they could drive out the Canaanites with their iron chariots! The confession of Ephraim was that they were too strong for them- but Joshua said that they will drive them out! So we will see what happens!
What is your confession today? What are you facing that seems too hard to overcome? It was true that the Canaanites were too strong for them, but Joshua knew that God was with them and that He would fight for them, if they would only believe and obey. No matter what circumstance you are facing, confess that you will break through those iron chariots, because God is with you! Confess that greater is He who is in YOU than he that is in the world! You are an overcomer in Christ- MORE than a conquerer! Believe it and confess it from now on, and make it your lifestyle!
“Lord, I thank You that no matter what I come up against, that You, who lives in me, is greater than he that is in the world! I’m coming through those iron chariots, no matter how strong the enemy seems, no one is stronger than You, who lives within me! Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
